Worked brilliantly on most fruit but failed on victoria plums as the bag just clogged but very happy wiyh it
We are very pleased with this purchase. It was great value for money, and the company itself has a very good business model, so no hidden snags in dealing with them.
We originally bought this kitchen press to crush grapes for wine making, and blackcurrants for couli making. It was more than capable of both these tasks. We were well pleased with the juice yield.
We are great cider makers too, and have a large outdoor press for juice extraction. However, this little press came with a booklet about pressing apples. So we decided to give it a try. Apples were washed & quartered, frozen in small batches for a week or so, thawed for 24 hrs then pressed in our kitchen. The result was amazing. The softened apples yielded far more juice, and the freezing released more sugar too.
We drank some apple juice straight from pressing – stayed fresh in fridge for 2 or 3 days. We froze the rest in empty milk bottles until we’d collected enough to get a batch of cider on the brew. We made double the amount of cider this year, and the resulting small batch brews were exceptional too. Each had its own distinct flavour depending on the varieties of apples it contained.
We pressed a small batch each evening, rather than having to commit a whole weekend to cider making. The kitchen press we bought has revolutionised our cider making. Thanks guys!
